Offerings

  • A peer-to-peer support hotline, created specifically for frontline workers. Connect with someone who has lived, vetted experience in your field or a related one — someone who truly gets it. Whether you're navigating grief, burnout, frustration, or just need to vent, we're here to listen.

This is not therapy, counseling, or mentorship — think of us more like a friend who understands your world and might be able to help in ways others can't.

  • We offer facilitated support groups at organizations that support community and the social justice movement. These are community-rooted workshops and circles that strengthen trust and address systemic issues of burnout more deeply.

Topics could include but not limited to:

    • navigating burnout & compassion fatigue.

    • nervous system recovery tools

    • How to integrate nature-based practices into daily life or workplaces

    • conversations about boundary setting in the workplace

    • navigating systemic pressures & grief.

    • utilizing work benefits.

    • Onsite Permaculture Gardens

    • Introductory ecotherapy themes (e.g., outdoor mindfulness walks or nature-based group activities)

    • Land-based collaboration with indigenous knowledge holders

    • Communal Meals

    • Creative Outlets (art, writing, movement)

    • Quiet zones

    • Satellite Masseuse / Spa Field trips

  • Self Led, Slow & Soft day, week, month or even longer "respite retreats" in the country, tailored specially for frontline workers.

All programming firmly rooted in a community care approach.

    Blending:

    • Ecotherapy Programming (Art, Nature, Community, Movement, Story)

    • Somatic practices (massage, yoga, sauna, hot/cold therapy)

    • Forest therapy & Garden sessions

    • Peer-led support spaces, conversations, community meals.

    • Practical workshops (e.g., "sustaining activism long-term," “healthy coping mechanism” “ "nervous system regulation tools and techniques”, “how to be there for each other.")

    • Prioritize accessibility (low-barrier locations, transportation support)

  • Hummingbird Ecotherapy & Recovery is committed to advocating for the rights of frontline workers and all marginalized people. We believe in working towards a just, safe and equitable world where everyone deserves rest and wellness.

    Our activism efforts include:

    • Community organizing

    • Pushing for systemic change. e.g., policy recommendations around burnout prevention, frontline worker support, advocate to initiate support & debrief circles within workplaces.

    • Build coalitions with other orgs doing anti-burnout, harm reduction, and ecological justice work

“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together’

her purpose

Hummingbird Ecotherapy & Recovery (HER) is a femme & queer led non profit organization based in Ontario, committed and accountable to an anti-oppressive & intersectional feminist philosophy. We believe human health is inseparable from the larger web of life on Earth.

HER works to create systemic change through eco-therapeutic practices that create pathways between social and environmental justice movements. We aim to support sustainable capacity for those working on the front lines of community-based organizations & their community members.
